Be You, Love You, All Ways, Always

The choices you make ultimately lead to certain moments. It’s the compounding effect for sure.

The journey of #ThirtyAndThriving just continues to make me uncomfortable, in a good way. I've said before, and I will say again, you have to go through to grow you. From reading new books that are expanding my thought process to enhancing my circle of influence, I am changing for the better. Life is good.

#Babybeez will be two on Saturday and is an active, fearless, happy toddler, with an old soul. I STILL look at him in disbelief at how much he has grown. He has his own personality and an infectious laugh. I absolutely love the way he asks “What are you doing?” It’s so cuuuute! LOL He is still doing smoothie dances and loves reading any and everything. Favorite numbers are currently 2 and 9, letters, 'a,' 'o,' 'y,' and 'b'. His favorite foods are apples, bananas, fruit snacks, crackers, and pasta.  He loves Peppa Pig, Bubble Guppies, Hey Duggee, and anything with a dinosaur on it.  He is growing taller by the day and is learning new words constantly.  He continues to bring so many precious moments and surprises to our life.

In a previous post, I mentioned this is my Year of Yes. I said yes to service and the mompreneur life. Mommin’ is a lifestyle.  Building a business is now part of that lifestyle. Being a partner, daughter, sister, friend, aunty, colleague, mentor…. All parts of the same. I keep reminding myself there has to be balance. I think balance is my third favorite “B” word.  #MeTimeMay has come and gone and I did better this year at carving out my daily 30 minutes. The beauty of #MTM is that it too is a part of my lifestyle. So it will continue, #MeTimeMayJuneJuly…. FOREVER. Which brings me to what I really wanted to talk about, self-care.

“"Nourishing yourself in a way that helps you blossom in the direction you want to go is attainable, and you are worth the effort. " – Deborah Day

I truly realized how important self-care is during the early stages of my pregnancy. It wasn’t until that point that I started guarding my peace, and I wasn’t doing it for myself. I was doing it for Bray. I tried and failed, tried and trailed through the nuances to protect my growing fetus. The effect it had on me post-baby was the game changer. As it turns out, I was even more passionate about helping other people figure out the importance of taking care of themselves. I struggled with the idea to start a Mom Support Group (MSG) because at the time I lacked confidence in my ability. I honestly wasn’t sure how I was supposed to fit it into my already busy schedule. But God.

Divine intervention on my 30th birthday celebration in the Bahamas gave me the courage I needed. I had the ambition and my own life as a testament. You can’t have a testimony without a test. My purpose—helping others, in various ways—has always been known, the key factor was finding my niche. My journey has led me here. Traveling is always better when you are doing it with a genuine support system.

Moms supporting other moms is necessary. Women empowering other women is crucial. I can do both and that makes my heart smile. My business fills the needs of others by way of self-care products.  The MSG serves mothers by way of self-care practices.  I hosted the first MSG the weekend of Mother’s Day. Since then I have been “in the lab” working on the next scheduled event. (Details coming soon.)  In the meantime, be sure to follow @TheCaffeinatedMama_ on Instagram for updates and join the MSG Community on FB at The Caffeinated Mama.
